Manny Pacquiao is known to be onw of the famous boxers who is using the Southpaw stance. A boxer in the southpaw stance would have his right hand and right foot forward, leading with right jabs, and following with a left cross right hook.
Antonio Margarito is an orthodox. An Orthodox stance is a way of positioning both the feet and hands in boxing. A traditional orthodox stance is one in which the boxer places his or her left foot farther in front of the right foot, thus having his or her 'weaker' side closer to the opponent. As it favours the stronger, dominant side — often the right side. The orthodox stance is the most common stance in boxing. It is mostly used by right-handed boxers.
Now what? Does this gives Pacquiao an advantage over Margarito or the other way around?
The corresponding designation for a left-handed boxer is southpaw and is generally a mirror-image of the orthodox stance. A southpaw boxer guards and jabs with his right-hand. Many believe that southpaw boxers have an advantage over orthodox boxers since their punches come from unexpected angles.
Left-handed boxers are usually taught to fight in a southpaw stance. This may give the left-handed fighter a strategic advantage because of the tactical and cognitive difficulties of coping with a fighter who moves in a mirror-reverse of the norm. However, some left-handed fighters are brought up fighting in the orthodox stance because of a widespread perception that boxing from an atypical stance (or attempting to learn to do so) would be a disadvantage to the fighter.
It only means one thing, they are a perfect match! I think the one who has speed, stamina, and power advantage other the other wins!
